spam and other unwanted emails

Hi all,
I saw some weird spam, a Singaporean version of the Nigerian spam,
funny thing is that I am from singapore. Anyways, I was hoping that
we wont attract much spam, but is there anything we can do to filter
such things from our list?
I am hesitant to disable public posting. One option is to differ mail
from unsubscribed users until a moderator looks at it, however the
downside is that we are the moderators. We will get the spam anyways.

What do you guys suggest?

I propose we wait it out. If it gets worse, we will have to do some
moderation and if that gets unbearable we will have to disable public
posting.
